SEASON WRAP-2011

Sorry it has been so long since last update. The 2011 season was one of higha and lows. The varsity finished with a 3-11 record ,but did qualify for Districts for the sixteenth straight year. The lady Warriors played their best matches of the year but dropped matches to North #1, Lake Stevens ,and eventual Wesco/Kingco #4, Monroe. The Warriors were led by [Soph] Sid E. with 19 kills and 4 bk. [Soph] Mikenna V with 15 kills, [Jr.] Maddie H with 58 assists and [Soph] Julia H with 33 digs. We will greatly miss our two graduating Seniors- Allie Rutz and Selma Tanjo, but are excited about the players returning. The jv finished 7-1 in league play and the Frosh, under new coach Sara picked up four wins compared to only one in 2010. Julia was awarded first team Wesco All League honors. Maddy R,Selma and Allie were 2nd team . Maddie H. and Sid were Honorable Mention. Future of EW volleyball is bright. Hope you will participate in the March Booster club auction. This raises funds for our program-especially to help with costs of Summer camp. Hope many of you are playing club and /or involved in other sports at EW. WARRIORS 1-1 IN LEAGUE

Last week the varsity opened league play with a loss to defending State 4A champ.Jackson. They rebounded with a 3-0 victory over Cascade. Strong performances were the word of the night. Sid E was awarded the game ball for her 7 kill/4 block kill effort. Allie, Julia, Maddy, Maddie and Sydney all had yearly PB's in at least one category. The jv also split and remain in contention for an upper bracket finish at the NOW league tourney Oct.22. The Frosh lost two tough matches and are currently 4-4. This week we celebrate Hawiian Night against Kamiak on Thursday. Wear your island gear and join the fun. GO WARRIORS

WARRIORS TAKE THIRD AT SOUTH WHIDBEY

After finishing a very difficult pre-season schedule the Lady Warriors had a great day at the 16 team Tropical Invite at South Whidbey on Saturday. Finishing pool play at 5-1 they advanced to the top tier of match play. Playing their best ball of the year, they dropped a hotly cotested match to top ranked Chelan ,but then bested Port Angeles 26-24 25-23. They came from behind in both games to take home 3rd place honors. All ten varsity members made significant cotributions. A very balanced offense and much improved defense led the way.Both the jv and Frosh teams finished the pre-season 4-2. The regular season begins tomorrow at defending State 4A champ Jackson and then home on Thursday to take on Cascade. Hope to see you at a match soon. GO WARRIORS!

FROSH EARN 'HARDWARE' !

The C team concluded a great first week of play by capturing first place in the Silver bracket at the EW FROSH INVITE on Saturday. After finishing second in their morning pool they defeated Monroe to set up the title game. The Lady Warriors lost a tough opening set to Stanwood, but prevailed in the second to send the match to a deciding third game. Trailing 13-10 the Warriors got a side out and setter, Katherine Wilson closed it out serving the last four polnts for the 15-13 win. All team members made significant contributions led by Katherine and libero. Kayla C. Next match is Monday at home against Bothell. Frosh and JV at 5:15 and Varsity at 7:00. Week One Results

If you were at Meadowdale High last night you saw a battle between two very good programs The State ranked,and senior laden Chiefs, eaked out a 25-23,25-23,25-23 win over the young Warriors. This was the second loss for the Lady Warriors to a state ranked team,but showed that they are improving rapidly and adjusting to the new defensive system installed this Fall. Game ball went to Soph. Becca Sharp for her outstanding serving and defensive efforts. Both the JV and Frosh teams had a great week winning against Woodinville and Meadowdale. Saturday we host a Freshman tourney starting at 9. Great chance to see a number of young future stars for only $3. Next home match against Bothell-Monday. Jamboree and First Match

After a week of tryouts and another of building our three teams it is time to see some different people on the other side of the net. Saturday we begin the competitive season with a jamboree at Terrace . All three squads will play three two game matches. The play begins at 9:00 and should end around 1:30/2:00. There will be a $3.00 charge to cover officials. Great chance to see a lot of volleyball and all four of our Dist. schools. Tuesday,the day before classes begin, we will have our regular season opener. JV and Frosh [C Team] start at 5:15 and the Varsity at 7:00. Ticket purchase is good for the entire evening. We hope you will join us often this season to watch the most exciting sport at the high school level. GO WARRIORS!

Sorry for the delay. The coaching staff met until a few minutes ago making the final decisions. This was the most competitive group from top to bottom in a number of years. 2011 Season- Almost Here !

The EW volleyball coaches hope that you are enjoying the great summer weather that has finally decended upon the great Northwest. We had a great turnout for summer 'open gym',averaging 18-20 players a session. In July EW took 6th out of 19 teams at the WWU camp. The Lady Warriors also participated in a three week league at Glacier Peak and finished 4-2 with a large number of players, including several incoming Frosh, contributing.We are excited to get the new season underway and look forward to seeing everyone at 4:30 0n the 22nd of August. SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS:All paperwork must be completed and turned in before you can turnout. Available online thru EW or Dist. 15 sites. ASB fee and sports fee paid before first match. May want to wait until after cuts to pay sports fee].We will have three teams- varsity-jv and frosh. At least twelve Freshpersons will make the final squad. Stay/get in the best shape you can. Check on CC camps/run with frinds/do 'Nicole' workouts. If you have car wash tickets sell them. Bring monies to the 'Wash' on the 13th-Will get out details on which shift we are working. SUMMERTIME and 2011 VOLLEYBALL

It is officially the start of Summer and we hope great experiences for you and your families. On the volleyball front we have already begun preparation for the 2011 season. Coach Nicole has been running open gyms- the scedule is on the calendar page. Last Saturday Sid, Maddie, Julia, Maddy, Allie, Mikenna, Syd, Rebecca and Selena participated in The KING'S INVITE. EW finished with a 7-3 record and 3rd place in the sixteen team tourney. Great start. Several details- Submit paperwork before first practice- Available on line or at open gym. -Be sure physical is current-We have dates on returning players and some incoming Frosh. -Take part in as much of our planned Summer volleyball as possible- it is certainly not required ,but the more work/play you get the better you will be. -We have a new Frosh coach- Coach Sara played for EW and was part of the 1997 team ,along with Coach Kirsten ,that finished 4th at State. We are excited to add her to our staff and wish Coach Holland the best. She will still be teaching at EW, and has promised to continue to help the program in other ways. POST SEASON BEGINS

The regular season came to a close Wednesday with all three teams suffering hard fought losses to rival Kamiak. The jv and Frosh matches were very close and both teams played some of their best volleyball of the season. In particular Julia stood out with her back court play. The varsity celebrated Senior night with strong showings from all five departing players. We now prepare for EW's fifteenth straight trip to the Dist 1 playoffs. As the number three seed from the South we open against the number two from the North- Monroe. Match will be at 4:00 Wednesday at Marysville. We will play a second match that same evening. Players will get more info. at practice-complete bracket and bulletin can be found at NW Dist. 1 website. Hope you have enjoyed the 2010 season and will enjoy the rest of the 2010/11 school year. We encourage players to participate on club teams- [USVBA] and in Winter and Spring sports at EW. We also hope parents will become involved with Athletic Boosters [ABC] here at EW-especially the auction in March. Finally several thoughts on our Seniors- Jessica-four years /one varsity-arguably best technique on team, played both outside and opposite/ wonderful final match. Taylor- three years [lost Soph year to injury] one varsity/ led team with 180 assists. Becca- four years/two varsity /finishes fourth all time in career digs with 334. Ashley - three years at EW/two varsity /two time '100 Kill Club' and top ace server this year with 31. Syd- four years/three varsity -111 kills and 27 solo block kills.These five young women have played a large role in the success of the program over the past four years-they will be missed. REGULAR SEASON ENDS THIS WEEK !

Hard to believe that the 2010 season is almost over. We conclude the regular season this Wednesday with a home match vs Kamiak. Last week both the varsity and jv split, winning at home against Mariner and loosing at Jackson. On Saturday the jv made it to the semi-finals of the NOW Invite second tier tourney . In particular- Brooklyn and Selena had stand out days. The consistent improvement by both the Frosh and JV teams promise continued success to the future of Warrior volleyball. Now on to this week. The Varsity has clinched a fifteenth straight trip to the post season. Wednesday's match will decide seeding. In addition, it will be the final home match for five seniors. We hope you will join us in celebrating the careers of Taylor, Rebecca, Ashley, Sydney, and Jessica .Next week Dist. 1 playoffs are at Marysville. Stay tuned for updates. GO WARRIORS

Varsity to Districts- Frosh Win !

What a great week for EW volleyball. With wins over Mariner and Cascade the varsity clinched the programs fifteenth straight trip to the Dist. 1 playoffs. There were numerous outstanding performers- Sydney D had 19/12 kills. Ashley K-N 19/8 kills and 8/5 aces. Taylor 45/29 assists. Becca 30/15 digs. Both Falanika and Selma had career highs during the week. Next Tuesday the Lady Warriors take on Mariner at home on Tuesday. The jv split this week,beating Mariner and then ,last night dropping a tough three setter to Cascade. Next Saturday they will compete in the NOW JV Invite. Based on next three matches they will either host here at EW or travel to Cavelero in Lake Stevens. The Frosh won a tough three set match last evening-their first regular season victory. Down 1-6 ,they battled back with some great serve recieve and tough net play. This Saturday they travel to the Bothell Invite. Regular season underway

The Warrior volleyball team opened the regular season this week with a flourish. The return of Taylor Brooks and Becca Stern and the lessons learned during a very competitive pre-season contributed to a 2-0 start to the Wesco South 4A competition. Tuesday the varsity swept Jackson 3-0 and last night dispatched the Cascade Bruins 3-1. All thirteen varsity members made significant contributions. Of note,in last nights match the Lady Warrirs had season bests in all statistical categories. Ashley K-N, Syd D.,Sid E., and Selma combined for 44 kills Taylor and Maddie H combined for 43 assists. Becca and Selma contributed 22 and 17 digs respectively. Next week we take on a very experienced and talented rival in Kamiak. The Frosh made significant gains and dropped a hard fought 1-2 match to Cascade. The jv equalled the varsity success with two wins in league play. Again all members made significant contributions to coach Kirsten Mann's young team's victories. Special 'kudos' to middle blockers-Emma and Syd and to libero Julia [splitting time between varsity/jv] for their fine play and leadership. Two notes about upcoming events- First Booster club meeting on Oct. 11 at 7:00pm in the library and,put on calendar,-NOW JV Invite Oct.23. NON-LEAGUE PLAY ENDS THIS WEEK

Hard to believe we are already four matches and two tournies into the 2010 season. So far victories have been hard to come by,but the coaching staff is very excited by the improvment of all three teams. The current varsity has only two players with any previous varsity playing time and the jv has no returners. Two highlights- the varsity winning games four and five to defeat Meadowdale 3-2 and ,late Saturday evening ,after an epic battle the jv loosing to Blanchet in the championship of the Bronze division at the EW JV Invite. Tomorrow we travel to play long-time rival Shorecrest and finish our pre league matches, Thursday with Snohomish in our second home match. Study Table

Hope you are planning a great Labor Day prior to the start of school. First two weeks of volleyball have been very productive, and we are anxious to begin real matches. Purpose of this note is to outline Study table. We will begin the first day of school. All JV and Varsity players will attend. It will be held on regular practice days. They may bring food and should have study materials. Check in is at 2:20 in D 102. At 3;40 will proceed to gym to set up nets and prep. for practice. Study Table will be supervised by Pitt. Student-athletes will be expected to complete homework/get tutoring/meet with teachers [after checking in and getting permission] or do leisure reading during this time.We have run this college like program for many years and feel it is extremely beneficial. 2010 Volleyball Season set to begin !

WOW-Summer is almost over already. Coach Bordeaux and the staff are excited to begin a new era . The most successful team program at EW is looking forward to new challenges with new league and Dist. allignments. Tryouts begin Monday the 23rd with all athletes new to the EW program turning out 3-5 and all returners 6-8. All paperwork must be in to Denise in the attendance office before you can participate. Forms are available on the Dist web site and her Office is open this week. Turn in your forms- grab your knee pads and a friend and join us Monday . GO WARRIORS

POST SEASON HONORS

Hope everyone had a great start to the Holiday season- I joined fifty-one of my immediate family for a 'cozy' Thanksgiving' at the Iron Horse Inn in CleElum. The food was wonderful-but the hilight was,as always, the entertainment. Family tradition is you have to'sing or some other form of entertainment' for your supper. I come from a very creative family.Back to volleyball- All three teams have had their post season celebrations and Winter sports are now in full swing. It is nice to see that the people outside the EW volleyball Family recognize the accomplishments of our players. All-Wesco South ---Ashley Kelly-Norling Hon. Mention-Hannah Lauber 2nd team-Miah Diirell, Haley Scott and Leigh Fishback 1st team. In addition Haley and Leigh were named 2nd team All-Area. They are among only twelve players from all the schools in the Herald's circulation region selected. A huge honor. I also invite you to visit the Bryant University web site to view Leigh's signing and profile. On a historical note-Erin Greenwood finished her playing career at UNLV last week. She leaves as one of the top five in UNLV history in numerous categories and more importantly-academic All-Conf honors every year. Again -thanks for a wonderful 2009 season and hope to see you at a basketball game-we have a number of our players who put the brown thing in the round thing. Really difficult getting to sleep last night-but for a good reason. The Lady Warriors met the challenge Thursday and defeated the North 2 seed,Marysville, and the South 1 seed, Jackson. These victories guarantee the EW volleyball team of a berth in next weeks State 4A tourney in Kennewick. A huge thank you to a very enthusiastic crowd who really got into it and helped keep the energy level high thru both matches. The win over Jackson avenged an earlier loss during the regular season. Highlites-Miah 14 kills and 5 aces-the last two to close out the match-Haley S 12 kills 2 aces -Ashley K-N 11 Kills-Leigh 44 assists and two great kills-Hannah and Katy combined for 12 kills and huge blocking Becca 19 digs.Marysville stats not compiled yet. Saturday we play Kamiak at 1:00 at MP for Dist. 1 championship. State seedings should be on WIAA web site Sunday along with a detailed fan bulletin. Team will leave Wed morning by rental vans. We will be staying at the Fairfield Inn. 4A teams play at the Toyota Center Thursday and Friday. You may have trouble recognizing me Saturday as I will be without my facial hair companion of forty years-moment of weakness,but a worthwhile promise. Hope to see a big crowd Saturday. POST SEASON BEGINS

As most athletes turn in their Fall sports gear the top teams in leagues around the state prepare for 'post season'. EW is happy and proud to be among the latter. The Lady Warriors head to their sixteenth straight District 1 tourney this Thursday at Marysville Pilchuck. They finished the regular season 7-2 [11-3] with sweeps of Meadowdale and Glacier Peak. The Meadowdale match was a highly emotional affair as we said goodby to seven seniors. Season highlights included several new school records.-Frosh standout,Miah Diirell, had five aces against GP and set a new record for aces in the regular fourteen match season with forty two. Hannah Lauber,senior three year starter, finished with 101 kills and a new record efficiency average of .444. Finally, senior setter, Leigh Fishback broke several records as she contributed 10.18 assists per set and finished her career-regular season- with 1375 assists .The team had four players with 100 or more kills-also a record-Miah Diirell-133, Haley Scott-133, Ashley Kelly-Norling-110 and Hannah Lauber-101. The team average .266 hitting eff. is second highest in school history and jr. libero,Rebecca Stern's 214 digs place her second all time for EW defensive players in a season. Thursday we play North#2 Marysville at 4:00. It is a modified double elimination tourney-we must win two before loosing two in order to claim one of the three berths to State. WARRIORS WIN !

A very good week for the Lady Warrior volleyball team. Wins over rivals Terrace and Lynnwood bring with them a Dist. 1 playoff berth-[sixteen straight]. Miah Diirell,Haley Scott and Ashley Kelly-Norling have all joined the EW 100 KILL CLUB. Hannah Lauber is only fifteen away and the team is closing on several team and individual records. Tomorrow the jv competes in the jv championships at Terrace-starts at 8:00am. Monday is the last home match of the season against Meadowdale. This is not only a huge match for Conference and Dist. rankings-but also Senior Night. We hope to have a huge crowd to send off our seven seniors. Wednesday we finish the regular season with Glacier Peak. I will give out directions at practice Tuesday. Thanks for your continued support as the Warriors wrap up the school's twentieth volleyball regular season and enter our seventeenth playoff. GOOO WARRIORS!

MONROE INVITE AND BEYOND

The chaos that is Homecoming is now over. The Warrior varsity concluded the week with a healthy win over Mariner. Leigh and Haley L. each dished out 15 assists as the team recorded the second highest hitting efficency in the programs twenty year history-.452. Saturday, minus a sick Shannon Reilly and a not yet-ready-but close, Sydney Donaldson,the Lady Warriors traveled to the very tough Monroe Invite. Six of the twelve teams competing have been/are ranked in the top ten in either 3A or 4A. EW went 5-1 in pool play finishing with a 27-26 win over Kingco power Issaquah.A stuff block by Hannah for the final point clinched a four seed into the Gold bracket. EW then met the current 4A number 6 ranked Monroe. In probably the most contested set of the tourney the Warriors prevailed 30-28. After dropping the second set,the Warriors trailed 9-14 in a fifteen point third. With the match on the line,they earned a side out and Haley Scott served out the match with six straight points and a 16-14 result. IN the semi finals EW played its best defensive match to date. Numerous great blocks and spectaclar digs resulted in a tense-close match. Kamiak finally prevailed 2-1 and went on to defeat highly ranked Eastside Catholic in the finals. A tremendous third place for the Warriors and a great way to head into the last two weeks of the regular season. Tuesday is a huge match aganist Dist.15 rival Terrace. It is also our annual Hawaiian Night-so dress the part. Next Saturday the Warrior jv will seek to defend its League title at Terrace. Season moving quickly

It has been some time since last post. The season is moving very fast with only a little over two weeks remaining in the regular season. Still several chances to see the 2009 Lady Warriors. We are at Mariner tonight and home on Tuesday for traditional rival-M Terrace. That happens to be 'Hawiian Night'. Put on your beach wEAR and join us. The varsity is coming off a tough loss to Kamiak and is fighting to make Districts. Congratulations to Miah Diirell-named Enterprise Female Athlete of the week. JV on a three match win steak as they battle for a high seed into WESCO championships next Saturday at Terrace. This Saturday the Varsity competes at the Monroe Invite-first pool play round starts at 8:30. Be sure to enjoy the remainder of Homecoming week and salute our own Mattie Houvener-Freshman Princess. A CARNIVAL RIDE WEEK

What a week to end the preseason. Last Saturday the jv finished second to an excellent Newport team and took the first 'hardware' of the season at the twelve team EW Invite. High point of the day-four seed EW knocking off first seed Holy Names in the Gold semi-finals. Tuesday a sweep of Monroe as all three teams won. The varsity played inspired ball knocking off the states #3/4 ranked team in five. Truly a playoff calibur match. Thursday was a different story- the Lady Warriors won the first two sets easily and then dropped the final three. Saturday saw us bounce back at South Whibey. EW went 8-2 on the day. They swept thru their pool 6-0,with a +70 point differential. Dropped a tough semi to highly ranked Chelan 23-25 20-25 but bounced back to defeat Cascade in two and take third out of sixteen and more hardware. Overall a very good week and now the coference season begins. NOTES: Thanks to Kathy Roper and Debra Miranda for agreeing to be parent reps. to the Booster club.Work is already starting on the March auction. This Thursday's match at Jackson is the first of four where we have a drop only bus. GOOD WEEK AGAINST THE NORTH

After a very light first week the Warriors hit the ground running. Two matches against traditionally strong programs gave us some real solid idea of where we are at in terms of competing in the 2009 version of Wesco volleyball. Coming off a strong showing at the EW Frosh Invite our niners lost close battles to Snohomish and Marysville. I am encouraged by the improvements I am seeing by both individuals and the team. We have players from four or five different middle schools and they are becoming a team. The jv had a nice three game sweep at Snohomish led by the outstanding play of Allie Rutz.Last night they lost to an excellent Marysville team,and look forward to tomorrows EW Invite to get back on the win wagon. Their pool in the morning session looks to be a strong one. Hope many of you will attend. The varsity continued to improve as it swept both its matches 3-0. The team is showing the kind of balance we anticipated.It was especially rewarding to beat Marysville last night[last years Dist.1 three seed to State] Katy Olson got the game ball at Snohomish-for being'a wall' at the net. Last night it went to Haley Scott for a great hitting night. Both Haley and Ashley Kelly-Norling were in double figures in kills in both matches. I will update stats this weekend after the jv tourney. On a really wonderful note-Syd Donaldson will begin a modified practice routine with us Monday. She is still not allowed to swing or serve but post op therapy is going so well she is now allowed to resume many aspects of practice. We are excited to have her back on the court and hope she will be able to compete at some point this season. Big week with defending Wesco champ at our house Tuesday and then at Everett on Thursday. Pre season closes with the varsity attempting to defend their title at the South Whidby Invite next Saturday. Have a great week. GOOOO WARRIORS!

FIRST WEEK OF COMPETITION

The first week of the 2009 season is in the books and the jv and varsity put their stamp on it with victories over Kingco AAAA Woodinville.It was a very well played match for a varsity opener and the lady Warriors displayed balance in all facets of the game-eight players recorded kills and all ten chipped in with at least one dig. [See all varsity stats on stat page]. The jv split the first two games and then came from way back to win the third and the match. Many stars, game ball went to Jessica, who had some monster kills from the right side. The Frosh did not get to compete since Woodinville,a three year high school, was not able to field a C team this Fall. Saturday the Frosh got their chance with a strong showing at the EW Frosh Invite. The young Warrirs finished second in their pool going 4-2 and then took third in the Silver Division finals by beating Monroe after dropping a tough three setter to Blanchet. Lynnwood defeated Holy Names to win the gold Division. The improvement by the Frosh from last weeks jamboree was very evident. The future of EW volleyball looks bright. This week we travel to Snohomish on Tuesday[3:45 bus LEAVES] and then home against Marysville on Thursday. These are two of the North powers so it will be a great test to find out some things early in the pre season. Saturday will be the EW JV Invite. It was great to see so many both familiar and new faces last night. My staff and I appreciate your taking several hours of your time to meet with us. Tryouts are finished-teams have been posted-Jamboree set for next Saturday. What a great week! The enthusiasm and level of intensity and play was outstanding. The coaching staff is very excited about the potential we saw during tryouts. We have a very important parent meeting Tuesday at 7:00. This is for all parents of Fall sport athletes. The new State law concerning concussions will be covered. In addition we will meet briefly by sport. We have changes in transportation and daily scheduling which will impact our program. I LOVE THE SMELL OF GYM FLOORS!

A sure sign/smell of a new season. Our gym floors have been refinished and are curing. First practice is less than two weeks away. Glad to see some of you at conditioning on Monday- hope many more of you will be attending the last three sessions on the calendar. This Saturday is the Booster Car Wash and Auction-we are working the first session of the Wash 8:30-11:00-hope to see many of you there. I will collect monies and tickets at conditioning on Thursday and at the car wash. I do have some prizes. If you or parents have items for the garage sale they can be dropped off at the school as early as 7:30 Saturday morning. This is one of only two fund raising events a year and we want to be very involved. Last year volleyball recived over 3500 to its account thru Booster activities which led to paying half our Summer Tourney costs- conditioning equipment and some new uniforms. Congrats to the sixteen players who participated in the WWU Summer Invite. TEAM TWO HAD A TOUGH FIRST DAY, BUT CAME BACK STRONG ON SATURDAY TO FINISH 3RD IN THE SILVER DIVISION. SPECIAL 'KUDOS' TO BROOKE, WHO. SET EVERY GAME OF THE TOURNEY. WE ARE PLEASED SHE IS BACK AND ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE ROLE SHE WILL PLAY IN EW'S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. TEAM ONE DROPPED THEIR FIRST MATCH FRIDAY MORNING BUT THEN WENT 3-0, WINNING SIX STRAIGHT GAMES, TO WIN THE STRONGEST OF THE THREE POOLS AND ADVANCE TO THE SIX TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET. SATURDAY MORNING THEY DEFEATED KINGS 2-1 AND THEN IN THE SEMI'S LOST TO FELLOW 4A ,GRAHAM KAPOWSIN. THEY DID A GREAT JOB OF REFOCUSING AND FINISHED THIRD BY BLASTING CENTRALIA AND THEN DISPATCHING KINGS FOR A SECOND TIME. TIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST COMPETITION FROM TOP TO BOTTOM WE HAVE SEEN AT WWU AND WITH ONLY EIGHT PLAYERS I AM VERY PROUD OF THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS. SPECIAL 'KUDOS' TO THE TWO ASHLEY'S WHO PLAYED EVERY POINT AS OUR ONLY OUTSIDE HITTERS. PARENTS THESE ARE NOT ONLY WONDERFUL ATHLETES ,BUT ALSO GREAT YOUNG WOMEN. THEY COMPETE HARD AND ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE. WOW! It is already the middle of July. Tomorrow,Tuesday the 14th is our final open gym. We will be finalizing plans for WWU and the rest of Summer . Important that you attend. Last chance to get in paperwork for WWU Tourney. We will set up transport and teams as well. Parents are encouraged to attend-especially Saturday. Parking is not available close to the gym-will give the girls all the details tomorrow night. We do need some help transporting the jv group on Friday. They will be leaving EW at 10:30. There will be a total 27 teams competing in two divisions . Looks like an excellent opportunity for us to improve. Be sure to sell those car wash tickets and get together stuff for the garage sale. The annual Booster event will be August 15 at the school. Garage items can be dropped off 7-8 that morning. We are working the early shift of the car wash 8:30-11:00. IT'S REALLY SUMMER!

A warm greeting to everyone. Hope you are enjoying the beginning of your break. Just going over grades- KUDOS to Makayla, Hannah, Adama, Awa, Lindsey, Katy, Jessica, Risa, Em, Shannon, Nicole, Allison, Haley S.,Selma, Annie, Liz and Ashley Y. for really outstading work.Everyone appears to have worked hard second semester. We have three more open gyms and I hope to see larger numbers at those. Remember only time we have to work together this Summer. Many other schools are running practices several times a week. WWU- I only have paperwork for Western from seven players-and only one Soph- We have a varsity and a jv team registered. Get me paperwork. GREAT FUN/FOOD and PLAY only $50 for one night and four meals at WWU + a great tee shirt and chance to defend our titles. WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL-IN THE PINK

On Saturday a team representing EW won the King's Friendship Invite and brought home the coveted pink tees. It was an outstanding effort by the EW eleven. After winning their pool 5-1 they went on to beat Lynnwood 2-0 in the quarters. In the semi finals they dropped the first game to State placer Kings but came back to win game two and then took the deciding game three, 15-11. That set up a final with perenial State 3A power and two time defending tourney champ-Kennedy. Again the Warriors dropped game one but battled back to take games two and three. Tough serving some great defense and balanced hitting were the keys.Over the last two plus years the EW team , representing the varsity, has won seven of the eight invites it has participated in. In addition the jv is the defending WWU Invite and WESCO champ.I look forward to seeing more of you at open gyms.GET IN WWU PAPERWORK.I only have from seven players-and only from one Sophomore.GET CAR WASH TICKETS FROM ME. The season is really over. What a great ride. While the last match did not end the way we wanted, I hope everyone can realize what a great season it was. I am very proud and honored to have been a part of it. The 2008 team has set new standards for the teams that follow. Hope all varsity and jv players and families will join us to celebrate Tuesday Dec. 2nd in the Great Hall for one last time. Over our annual pot-luck we will relive the accomplishments of these two championship teams and bid our three marvelous seniors adieu.

Now that the District Tourney is over, the logistics of the trip to the East side are the focus. We will depart via vans Thursday at 10:00 am following a short recognition assembly for the team and the five other Fall athletes who qualified for State Tourn. We have a 'social' and coaches meeting at 4:30 in Kenn. The team will be staying at The Red Lion in Pasco- about ten/fifteen minutes from the arena.You may want to check out further info on the WIAA web site, including tourney merchandise. It has been an incredible season on the back of a wonderful o7. The teams goal is to bring the focus they have played with the past several matches to State. Hope to see many of you there and look forward to celebrating the season soon at our, as yet, unscheduled team potluck and awards night in early December. GO WARRIORS!

WOW-- WHAT A FINAL.I am really proud of the way our kids played yesterday. That was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Our reward is an opening round match with Lewis and Clark at 9:00 on Friday morning. Full bracket on WIAA web site.

EW ON TO STATE!

WOW--It feels really good to say that, and especially before the last District match has been played. The 'Lady Warriors' were exactly that last evening winniNg both their matches at Marysville. Defense and blocking have been a primary focus of late and really showed up last night. We had 25 blocks-15 leading directly to points. As you would hope/expect our seniors led the way. Alex had 50 digs and only two serve recieve errors- Marisa had 27 kills-27 digs and five aces. Cailin, who was awarded the game ball, finished the night with 44 kills and 23 digs. Leigh wound up with 90 assists and five kills. Our middles did a great job of blocking and contributed offensively at a number of key points. Special props to our bench who kept the emotions high- especially in the fourth game against Snohomish. Saturday we play for the one and two seeds at 1:00. We will head for the Tri Cities Thursday am. We will be staying at the Pasco Red Lion. The draw will take place Sunday morning and I will get out bracket info as soon as I get it. Again thank you for all the wonderful support as we continue to reach our goals and enjoy every minute of the trip. GO WARRIORS!
